I believe that that government is best which governs least. I believe that taxing of one’s income and regulation of one’s actions are inherently restrictive to liberty. I believe that elected officials need to understand that when they tax, they take away liberty and when they regulate, they take away freedom. All elected officials must understand that the power to tax and regulate should only be done within the bounds of the Constitutions of the United States and the State of Wisconsin and should be done so sparingly.
I believe our state government is too big. Every household in Wisconsin has to adjust it’s budget based on income. Our state government should be no different. We need to put state government on a spending diet that respects individual liberties and our businesses.
I am 100% Pro-Life and I pledge to uphold the right to life of those in utero and those in the sunset of their lives. I believe that life begins at conception. I oppose efforts to legalize assisted suicide. While the state should intervene as little as possible in peoples’ lives, I believe the state has an inherent role in promoting a civil society that respects life at all stages.
Our state tax code is beginning to rival the federal tax code in complexity. I believe we need to overhaul our current tax code and replace it with a simplified system. The legislature has made modest gains in this area. I will continue to advocate for a fair tax system that does not penalize success and innovation.
